Dr. Gerardo Jiménez-Sánchez is an internationally recognized leader in human genetics, genomic medicine, and biotechnology, with more than three decades of experience across research, healthcare, and innovation policy. He has played a central role in advancing precision medicine in Latin America and in connecting emerging economies with global genomic initiatives.

He served as Program Director for Genomic Medicine and Health Care Innovation at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and previously chaired the Working Party on Biotechnology at the OECD in Paris. As the Founding Director General of Mexico’s National Institute of Genomic Medicine (INMEGEN), he led the creation of a federal institution dedicated to genomic research and its translation into public health and clinical practice.

Dr. Jiménez-Sánchez is a physician and pediatrician who holds a PhD in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology from Johns Hopkins University, where he also completed a multi-year research fellowship in pediatric genetics, and has held academic appointments at leading universities. He is a certified pediatrician and medical geneticist, and has contributed to landmark analyses of the human genome published in high-impact scientific journals.
